Get To Know Me and the blog.

Hello and welcome! My name is Katie and I live in north-central  Illinois. In a town of about 9,000 people. Very rural, very flat, lotsa corn, lotsa road trips to stores. Our nearest mall is about 45 minutes away, and all other shopping centers (that are not mom and pop shops) are about 30 minutes away. Let’s just say Amazon Prime is my friend. BUT, I will say, we have a Walmart AND Aldi in town. They are the only grocery stores we do have. Oddly enough. We moved here a little over a year ago and are still in the process of fixing up our home.

I’m a 30-year-old gal, wife to Eric, and mom to our two year old dog, Gunner, and four year old cat, Callie. We are trying for baby #1. Which has been a work in progress for about four years (July marks the anniversary of when we started “trying”). More on our journey to come. Eric does electrical contracting for a living and travels throughout the northern portion of the state for work. Gunner is a yellow lab, still full of that puppy energy. He lives to play fetch and swim. Whereas, Callie, is a siamese and quite the needy little princess. As for me, after graduating from UIUC, I worked in medical for many years, public health, and did real estate prior to (recently) committing to blogging.

Blogging has always been a passion of mine. This goes back all the way to the Xanga days. I think I was a sophomore in high school when I started my first blog. Writing has always been an outlet for me. I communicate my feelings best through writing it down into words. It helps me process my thoughts, because I always a plethora of stuff going on in my mind. I am a talker, once I feel comfortable enough, I will talk your ear off; figuratively, of course. I’ve gotten told that my whole life.


Literally, I was that kid at the store who would wander up to total strangers and ask them how their day is going. Why my mom never put a lease on me, I don’t know. Between Eric, myself, and our genetics, we will have our hands full when we do finally have kids.

Anyways, getting back to the subject of a blog, what better than having the freedom to communicate to anyone who gives a rat about what I have to say! I’m sure there’s people out there can jive with me. Hopefully, maybe.


This blog is going to be a place where I’ll stash all the things that I like, love, want, need, and are feeling. From outfit ideas, beauty favorites, to home renovation and DIY projects. Plus, a little bit of family and life rants. I have no concrete agenda of how this blog will play out. So far, some hot topics will be fashion, beauty, design, and life related. Maybe a little extras, like a photoshop or graphic design or staging tutorials, here and there.


Let’s be perfectly clear, I am no professional nor claim to be. I’m not a carpenter, fashion designer, graphic designer, professional photographer, esthetician. I studied health. I’m just an average chic who likes to be hands on and create stuff. All the stuff I listed above are hobbies of mine. Over the years of playing and practicing, I’ve lived, learned, and fine tweaked the craft. My intention with this blog is to share that with you.


I’m working extremely hard to have some sort of content everyday. Whether it’s a full on post or a little excerpt of what I threw up on the ‘gram (reference to instagram, for all you unaware folks). Either way, my goal is for you to hear from me every day. You’re welcome.


Lastly, I must admit that I’m excited to be finally starting again and committing to blogging. I’m excited to see where this journey takes me. If all I have at the end of this, is to inspire at least one person, to make at least one person feel a little more confident in their own skin, or have the ability to look back on the work, my writings, to continue motivating myself - I’m happy.
